Supporting Undocumented Students:
The Impact of COVID-19 and the Uncertainty of DACA

Description

There are currently thousands of undocumented students, including DACA recipients, enrolled in colleges facing significant economic, legal, emotional, and social challenges to their studies, future livelihoods and careers. The COVID-19 crisis has further upended their lives and the upcoming SCOTUS decision on DACA brings more uncertainty to their future. Given these difficult and unique challenges, it is imperative for service providers to implement effective practices that will help these students see their way to college graduation and meaningful careers. In this session, we will address the current needs of undocumented students and their families, the applicability of COVID-19 legislation and other relief measures, current DACA related recommendations, and effective practices to support these students. Resource materials will be shared.
