Would you like to be connected with a seasoned professional who understands your industry? Are you willing to serve as a mentor to upcoming professionals? The NSPA Mentoring Program offers a unique opportunity for both mentors and mentees
to engage on a personal level, exchange best practices, and foster a sense of belonging within our community.
After your application is received, our team will work as quickly as possible to make your match. Please note that our ability to make matches depends on the availability of mentors and mentees in similar organization/institution types. Once a match is made, you'll receive an email introducing you to your mentor/mentee.
Mentoring pairs are asked to commit for a year. Following their one year anniversary, they have the option to renew with each other, sign up for a new match, or discontinue participation in the program.
"I signed up for the Mentoring Program and never imagined how tremendous this experience would be. I couldn’t ask for a more perfect match in a mentor! We share a background in admissions and utilize the same tools so we have much
to talk about when we meet. My mentor's wealth of experience, professionalism, and positive attitude has been a great support for me. I am so grateful to NSPA for this experience which has been pivotal as I strive to improve
services for our students.”
Helen Corpuz Ramirez, Associate Director, Scholarship Services, Kean University
"Participating in NSPA's mentoring program was such a worthwhile endeavor for us! Working for Community Foundations in our respective communities meant we had many shared experiences. We discussed how our foundations handled different
parts of the scholarship selection and administration process and learned best practices from each other’s organizations. The relationship that developed over the course of our mentorship meetings will continue, as will the
networking opportunities that come with new friendships. If you are considering participating in the mentorship program, we encourage you take advantage of this great opportunity for learning and connection."
Charlotte Quesada Krugh, Program Coordinator, Community Foundation of Jackson Hole and Rochelle Naylor, Senior Program Officer, Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation
"Our first conversation has helped to give me some perspective from an expert and a new hope as to how I can improve services to better support our students. I am truly appreciative of this opportunity"
2021 Program Mentee
"The NSPA mentoring program is everything I was looking for in a professional development program and more. Not only have I been able to build a strong personal and professional relationship with my mentor, but I have also gained
additional relationships by plugging into his network. It has helped me tremendously as my team and I strive to create a strong 360 degree support program for our scholars, as well as with reflecting on the challenges our program
is aiming to overcome.”
