Demystifying the Financial Aid Process
|
Description
Attendees will develop a basic understanding of the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and its role in the financial aid process. Learn more about eligibility for Financial Aid, the types of Financial Aid available, and other factors that can impact a Financial Aid Package. Participants will also learn how scholarships can affect financial aid packages and better understand the connections the financial aid office makes between campus partners and outside organizations in order to provide access and customer service to incoming and continuing students. Audience questions are encouraged!

Presenter Bios
Maggie Nowicki serves as the Athletic Aid Manager for the Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She works closely with the Athletic Compliance office on campus to ensure we are compliant with NCAA and Big10 regulations in regard to Financial Aid disbursement to student-athletes. Her previous experiences in higher education include working as an academic advisor and within community engagement programs. She is very passionate about creating access to higher education for underserved and disadvantaged populations, and really enjoys being part of an office that makes educational experiences more affordable. She holds a Bachelor's in International Business and a Masters in College Student Personnel.
Nicole Schumacher serves as the Scholarship Aid Manager for the Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She partners with a variety of scholarship organizations, such as the Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association and First Wave to ensure students are properly awarded their scholarships and scholarship funds are respectfully stewarded. In addition, she manages the awarding of Veteran’s Benefits to students. In and outside of the office, Nicole has a passion for wellness. She founded the OSFA Wellness Committee and would love to see all students embrace financial wellness by funding their education wisely. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Broadfield Social Studies and an MBA.
