Description

Programming and services can be just as valuable to students as the financial commitment we make to them. Join our panelists, who will share their experiences and initiatives designed to enhance and maximize scholars’ growth as leaders and successful professionals. You will learn how to create and implement impactful student support programs, such as assistance in finding scholarships and completing the application, wrap-around services, coaching and mentoring programs, mental health, and college completion supports.

Panelist Bios
Brenda Holcombe began her career in higher education at the University of West Georgia in 1994 as a member of the Residence Life staff, and then, two years later, she joined the admission staff at her alma mater – Western Carolina University. Over the past two decades, Brenda has held positions in undergraduate admissions and financial aid, including serving as WCU’s first director of university scholarships for the past seven years. When she isn’t working, she and her husband can be found trail running, mountain biking, or paddling. They also spend their time being entertained by their rescue beagle, Brownie. Brenda earned her B.S. in Recreational Therapy at WCU and her M.S. in Human Relations and Business from Amberton University.

Chelsea Muhlhahn Scoffone has a diverse background in higher education and scholarship program administration. In her current role, she manages the recruitment/selection process for GT’s top merit scholarships, the multiple yearly retreats, the outdoor leadership trip for first-years, and assists with other programmatic responsibilities. Prior to coming to Tech, she served as an assistant director of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of California, Berkeley. During her tenure, Chelsea focused on recruitment, selection and outreach initiatives, attracting top students from around the world. Previously, she served with both the US-UK Fulbright Commission in London and the National Scholars Program at Clemson University.
