What We Can Do for Our Scholars Over and Above the Financial Commitment We Make to Them: Scholars Support Services and Added-Value Programs

Tim Snow, President, Pam Perrin, Vice President of Scholar Services, and Leslie Cornwell, Scholarship Coordinator at the George Snow Scholarship Fund

It is the belief of the George Snow Scholarship Fund that what we provide to our scholars in the form of programs and services can be just as valuable as the financial commitment we make to them. As a result, The George Snow Scholarship Fund has created and implemented a series of Scholar Support Services designed to enhance and maximize each scholar's college experience. We will outline our many Scholar Support Services which will include but not are not limited to: Our Computers and College Supply Stipend Program, our Emergency Fund Program, Monday's Motivational Messages, our Snow Family Phone App, Care Packages, and our High School to College: Tools for a Successful Transition Program.

Presenter Bios:

Tim Snow has served as the Co-Founder and President of the George Snow Scholarship Fund since its inception in 1982. Under Tim's leadership, the George Snow Scholarship Fund has been recognized as one of the most respected non-profit organizations in South Florida. Tim's vision for the Fund included not only providing scholarships but also the development of scholar support programs and services created to ensure the success of the scholars including pre-college physicals, laptops for each scholar, and a high school to college transition program.

Pam Perrin joined the George Snow Scholarship Fund in 2008 to head up the Scholar Services Department. A mother of three, she has been instrumental in the development of the Scholar Support programs, with a focus on helping students avoid displacement of scholarship funds. She is an active member of the National Scholarship Providers Association and recently served on the Maximizing Student Awards committee responsible for the white paper Impact of Award Displacement on Students and their Families. The purpose of the paper was to inform federal, institutional, and organizational policymakers and scholarship professionals about the impact of award displacement on students and their families, college access, college completion, and college affordability. Her favorite part of her job is being a mom and mentor to all of the Snow Scholars and hearing back from alumni after they graduate.

Leslie Cornwell has been part of the George Snow Scholarship Fund family since 2013. As our Scholar Coordinator, she works very closely with all of our scholars, blending her experience as a mother of three and former attorney. Leslie's responsibilities begin with promoting the scholarships at local high schools and helping students who have questions about the application process. She works closely with Pam Perrin to provide support and guidance to all of the Snow Scholars. She oversees the College Care Package Program that sends donated items to our students prior to their exams, as well as the Snow Scholar Graduate Student Scholarship Program. Her favorite part of the job is meeting each new class of Snow Scholars.

Thank you to the following organizations for their generous support!
