National Scholarship Month

November is National Scholarship Month. Sponsored by National Scholarship Providers Association (NSPA), National Scholarship Month® (NSM) is about building an awareness of scholarships. Whether you are a scholarship provider, an institution of higher education, a student, a parent, or a business, National Scholarship Month is a way for all of us to celebrate our work and our common goal of helping all students get to and through college.

National Scholarship Month was established in 1998 by Scholarship America (formerly, Citizens’ Scholarship Foundation of America). It provides recognition to communities, organizations, and businesses in the scholarship industry and serves to encourage others to step forward and join this movement to improve educational opportunities and educational achievement around the world.

We are proud to report the 2015-2016 academic year scholarship dollars awarded and students served by NSPA Members. Now this is something to celebrate!

Our brand new Facebook page is available for you to view and like here. In celebration of National Scholarship Month, please wear blue and orange one day this month and post pictures on our page with a #NationalScholarshipMonth.

One of my favorite observances of November is National Scholarship Month! I welcome this annual opportunity to celebrate the power of scholarships and the people who make them possible, because I know the positive impact scholarships can have on the lives of others.

One way to build awareness of scholarships is to grow the National Scholarship Providers Association so that more organizations have access to member benefits resulting in more effective scholarship programs. To celebrate this month we ask current NSPA members to encourage others to become members as part of the Refer-A-Friend promotion! If you refer a new member to join NSPA by December 31, 2016 they will receive $50 off membership dues and you will receive $50 off to renew your membership! Discount codes will be emailed to both parties after membership for the new organization is approved.

There are two ways to refer a new member:

  • You can contact the potential member about this offer and instruct them to list your name as the referring member on the application form.
  • You can send suggestions for new members to Maggie Brubaker. Maggie will note you when an organization suggested by you joins.

Use the following resources when recruiting new members:
